Welcome to Harbour Pointe Women's Golf Club

Our 2011 season is coming to an end as we cheer our 2011 Club Champion, Amy Sing, and our 2011 Senior Club Champion, Lynn Richter!   Looking back … we made great progress toward each of our “Fore Goals for 2011”.

1. We grew our Membership – to 56.  HPWGC welcomed 16 new members including:  Judi Allan, Lorna Bigsby, Kay Brittingham, Jennifer Eby, Theresa Gabelein, Linda Geddes, Carla Hogan, Ursula Johnson, Diann Kincaid, Dianne Knapp, Sheila Lane, LeAnn Mallos, Carolyn Matson, Janice Nichols, Agueda Sanchez, and Melinda Vlasic.   They became part of the fabric of our diverse & energetic women’s club.  Special congratulations  to Linda Geddes our 2011 new member of the year.  Thanks to Debbie Schultz & Mo Conroyd for moving us forward in 2011.

2. We initiated a new Ambassador Program to introduce, assist, engage & integrate new members into our club activities.  Thanks to Dorrie Johnson, Mo Conroyd, Amy Sing, Dianne Knapp, Tina Dion, Jennifer Eby, Linda Geddes, Monica Tracy, and Debbie Schultz for serving as our first Ambassadors for the HPWGC!

3. We enhanced our Education & Skill Development activities.  Thanks to our terrific Pro Staff, we were able to take part in monthly clinics to help us bring our golf games to “the next level”.  In the Spring, Joe Puetz, PGA, started members out with a “Spring Tune-Up”, and then monthly, brought us the ever popular “Wine & Women”.   Coordinated by Debbie Schultz, Membership Co-chair, & assisted by Art Snoey, Teaching Professional, these clinics continue to grow in popularity & value.  Chuck West, PGA, USGA Rules Official, shared his rules expertise in our April Rules Clinic 101, and in June’s on-course Rules Clinic on #6.   We can’t wait for next year’s clinics that will include the upcoming 2012 Rules Changes.  In June, Chris Aoki, PGA, and Kirk Smith, Certified Golf Fitness Trainer & Club Fitter, hosted a Putting Clinic and Swing Analysis for members at their nearby Active Golf Center.  Watch for the upcoming 2012 HPWGC Clinic schedule…to help you lower your handicap in 2012!

4. We continued our commitment to Philanthropy -  by giving back to our community.  We were overwhelmed by the generosity of our members & guests at our 2011 major philanthropic event, The 2011 HPWGC Invitational & Fund Raiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.   Kudos to Amy Sing, Tournament Chair for coordinating this exceptional event that welcomed 116 pink clad golfing gals on July 31, 2011.   We raised $12,350 – up 65% over our 2010 results!  Way to go gals!  Hats off to Janet Ensign, and her trusty assistant, Cindy Zynda for coordinating a value packed Raffle.

As we ended the season with our banquet on October 20th,  I was reminded of the many gifts that HPWGC offers its members.   Friendship & camaraderie have to top the list, followed by the pride & confidence that comes as our games & skills improve.  We are blessed to have such a supportive Pro & Teaching Staff, and such a challenging & beautiful course to spend 4 – 5 hours of our busy days.  Add to that – beautiful sunshine, (forget about the rain & the cold!), 30-foot putts that drop, fairways hit, greens in regulation, safe flights to greens over watery hazards, chip ins, first bogeys, pars & birdies, getting out of traps in one shot, breaking 100, 90, 80 … yes,  we all know what keeps us coming back!  See you in 2012!

Cheers,

Jill McLean

HPWGC President
