Did you know?...
If you are addressing your ball and intend to hit it...but you miss (whiff), it counts as a stroke.
It's always helpful to review our HPWGC Local Rules so that everyone is counting the same.
The tee shots on holes #3, #7, #8
You must hit two shots into the hazard before using the local rule:
If first and second shots are hit into the pond or wetlands, a third ball may be carried across and dropped on the other side (at the cost of l penalty stroke) within a reasonable distance from the edge of the hazard so as to allow a free and comfortable swing. (Count as follows: 1 in, 2 out, 3 in, 4 out, 5 is the carry and drop. You are now hitting your 6th stroke.)
Hole #6: the wetlands that cross the fairway from the right of the bridge to where it turns back to the tee:
If you hit 2 balls into the hazard, you may carry the third ball over and drop within a reasonable distance from the hazard so as to allow a free and comfortable swing. The count is 1 in, 2 out, 3 in, 4 out, add a stroke for the carry and continue counting to the hole.
All other hazards are played according to the USGA rules for lateral and out-of-bounds.
